Joanna Karniol – lawyer

Joanna Karniol is a barrister, and founding partner of the law office Simeon Karniol Małecki, and then Karniol Małecki i Wspólnicy.

She is a counsel to various companies which mainly use French and Belgian capital to invest in Poland. She specialises in corporate law, commercial contracts, construction investments, and in matters related to environmental protection. In addition, she is an expert in the protection of personal data and intellectual property law. Joanna Karniol became a specialist in European law in the 1980’s and is the author of a large number of publications concerning various legal aspects of the business market.

In 1981 she graduated from the Law and Administration Faculty of Warsaw University, as well as from the Centre Européen Universitaire in Nancy, France (1981 to1982). She later obtained a postgraduate diploma in European Law Studies at the Kardynal Stefan Wyszynski University (2003 to 2004). She undertook training at the Environmental Protection Department of the European Commission in Brussels in 1984, and at the Paris Bar Council in 1987.

Joanna Karniol has worked as a barrister since 1988. She was a member of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Warsaw Regional Bar Council between 1998 and 2004 and a member of the Management Board of the Belgian Business Chamber from 2005 to 2007. She is now an affiliate of the Polish Law Education Association and a member of the Belgian Business Chamber.  She was awarded the Belgian medal of CHEVALIER DE L’ORDRE DE LA COURONNE in 2006. Joanna Karniol is a member of the Warsaw Bar Association.
